Packing Suggestions
Bring comfortable, casual clothing. Should you forget something, you can purchase items where you travel, but selections may vary and you won’t have extended time to shop. Ties and jackets are not required; there are no formal nights, although some passengers choose dressier clothing for the Captain’s Dinner. Laundry service (no dry cleaning) is available onboard for a fee.
Suggested items to bring:
- Sunglasses, sun hat or visor
- Collapsible umbrella / lightweight rain gear
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Lightweight jacket / warm sweater / sweatshirt; dressier for evening if desired
- Toiletries (e.g., remedy for pain, colds, upset stomach, anti-bacterial; Band-Aids; sun block)
For early Spring, Autumn & Winter or Tibet visits:
- Warm coat, gloves and water-resistant footwear
For Russia:
- Your ship may experience ocean-like movement sailing through the large lakes; if you are prone to motion sickness, bring an appropriate medication.
Pack in your hand luggage / carry-on baggage (first check current airline baggage restrictions):
- Sufficient prescriptions in original, labelled containers
- Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution
- Camera gear: film, extra memory cards (for digital cameras), extra batteries
- Important papers & travel documents
- Valuables
You may want to bring extra medication; pharmacies may not stock yours. Carry these separately but in original, labelled containers. You may also wish to bring copies of your key travel documents (passport information page, airline tickets, credit card numbers, and insurance information) and carry them separately in case you lose your originals. Film / battery selections overseas can be limited and expensive, so be sure to bring sufficient.
Optional Items
- Electrical converter / plug adapter for electrical appliances
- Travel journal / notepad or reading material
- Travel alarm clock, anti-bacterial wipes, travel torch, binoculars
- Small calculator for foreign exchange calculations
